TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yeremia 4:22

Konteks

4:22 The Lord answered, 1

“This will happen 2  because my people are foolish.

They do not know me.

They are like children who have no sense. 3

They have no understanding.

They are skilled at doing evil.

They do not know how to do good.”

Yeremia 17:6

Konteks

17:6 They will be like a shrub 4  in the desert.

They will not experience good things even when they happen.

It will be as though they were growing in the desert,

in a salt land where no one can live.

Yeremia 32:41

Konteks
32:41 I will take delight in doing good to them. I will faithfully and wholeheartedly plant them 5  firmly in the land.’

[4:22]  1 tn These words are not in the text but are supplied in the translation to show clearly the shift in speaker. Jeremiah has been speaking; now the Lord answers, giving the reason for the devastation Jeremiah foresees.

[4:22]  2 tn Heb “For….” This gives the explanation for the destruction envisaged in 4:20 to which Jeremiah responds in 4:19, 21.

[4:22]  3 tn Heb “They are senseless children.”

[17:6]  4 tn This word occurs only here and in Jer 48:6. It has been identified as a kind of juniper, which is a short shrub with minute leaves that look like scales. For a picture and more discussion see Fauna and Flora of the Bible, 131.

[32:41]  5 tn Heb “will plant them in the land with faithfulness with all my heart and with all my soul.” The latter expressions are, of course, anthropomorphisms (see Deut 6:5).
